If you were directed here from the coed team tryout, please be sure to email us at osuagct@aol.com and indicate this fact along with your number from the tryout. This could potentially make you eligible for recruitment.

You may make arrangements for trying out in 2 ways:

* Pre-arranged individual tryout between now and 2nd week of Fall Quarter 2010
   Email coach Joey Delaney to arrange individual tryout. See video tryout page for skill requirements.

Tryout Information 2011-2012 Season

RECRUITING PROCESS
Coaches will be visiting Ohio Gyms, High Schools and various Competitions where we will identify athletes with a high level of tumbling, stunting and general cheerleading ability. We will then contact those athletes directly or through their organizations in order to talk further about their college plans. Coaches, athletes, friends, family may submit a recommendation of an athlete by emailing osuagct@aol.com with the athlte's name, school or all star team, standing/running tumbling and stunting position/skills. Those skills must exceed the below listed minimums for the open tryout to be considered for recruitment. CLEAR AND VISIBLE Individual video or team routine video's demonstrating jumps, tumbling and stunting will be requested from the athlete. Compatible athltes will be offered automatic positions in the program.
Returning team members will be eligible for the same process based on their demonstrated ability throughout the course of the season. In addition to the recruiting process, there will be a formal tryout for all other athletes that are not directly offered a position. Should an athlete be initially recruited, they may be asked to tryout after further evaluation of their skills.

TRYOUT PROCESS
There will be a tryout process for any athletes not direclty offered a position prior to that date through the recruiting process. Returners and all other new athletes may go through this process. Information about the actual tryout process is listed below.

Tryout Material Posted here Apr 25, 2011

In the event of a conflict with the date, you may make arrangements for trying out in 3 ways:
* Video Tryout (click here for more info) Due by Thursday, Apr 28, 2011
* Open practice Wednesday, Apr 27, 2010 7:00-8:30p
* Pre-arranged individual tryout (Apr 89-27, 2011)
   Email coach Joey Delaney to arrange individual tryout. See video tryout link for skill requirements.

Our tryout is a fair and equal process. There are no judges; the squad is picked by the coaches. The tryout process is very relaxed and low key. The idea is to facilitate the absolute best performance from each and every person attending. We are looking for cheerleaders who show mastery of basic cheer skill (jumps, motions and dance) and demonstrate ABILITY OR POTENTIAL to excel in stunting and tumbling.

YOU are responsible for your opportunity to tryout for what could be the most amazing part of your college years. We strongly recommend that you be at the tryout in person or make every effort to make arrangements well in advanced. Late request, videos or last minute arrangements do reflect on your overall interest/dedication and responsibility level and could potentially prevent your success in the tryout process. Please follow the video tryout directions carefully for all 3 types of alternative tryouts.

You will need your medical policy holder's name and the policy number for the required form. No physical is required.

The current requirements are:
MINI ROUTINES--we provide a short motion and dance sequence during which you may incorporate two skills (i.e. jumps and standing tumbling)
JUMPS--toe touch and a pike jump (may be in a sequence, but not same sequence)
TUMBLING
--standing; standing tuck
--running; round off backhandspring tuck/ layout is preferred
STUNTING
--shoulder stand
--one optional skill (leg extended stunts)
--Flyers, must perform various body positions on ground if not included in optionals.

If you do not have stunting experience do not be intimidated. Many of our members had no or very little experience when they tried out. YOU WILL GREATLY INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF SUCCESS IF YOU HAVE:
standing back handspring/back tuck, standing back tuck, more than a round-off backhand/back tuck, or if you demonstrate great strength as a base or can double down various single-leg stunts as a flyer.

ONE DAY FORMAT

In order to efficiently evaluate everyone's talents in one day, we will be posting all of the tryout material online.
Detailed video of the Cheer, Dance, two weeks before the tryout.
It is your responsibility to learn the material in advance.
There will be time for teaching/working stunts and tumbling and a review of all the other material. However, it will be noticeable in your performance if you have not learned the cheer/dance and prepared your jump sequences prior to the tryout day. We want to see the best of everyone's abilities. With that being said, you have plenty of advanced time to learn and practice the material instead of just learning it and performing it in one day.

The tentative agenda will goes as follows. This is a tentative schedule and is subject to change. The changes, if any will be posted here and highlighted. The tryout will remain a one day process even if there are changes.
